I'm aware that copying and/or transmitting NATS ATC broadcasts is prohibited by law. This disappoints me as I would enjoy being able to listen to ATC in the UK from "across the pond". Does anyone think the day will come when NATS ATC will be transmitted legally on-line? Why is there such a restriction in the first place?

It might be down to our Wireless Telegraphy Act over here which prohibits the monitoring of any radio signals without proper authority. Exceptions are normal commercial radio broadcasts, TV, radio amateurs and one or two others. The "utility" bands - police, marine, aircraft, etc, etc are forbidden territory!

The only chance is that our "government" might come with an idea for making money through such streaming; then the laws would be changed overnight!

So are you saying that listening to ATC freqs is forbidden without prior permission? I was under the impression that it WAS allowed but only if you didn’t pass on any knowledge that was 'gained' while listening.
Can any one clarify??
