What Ski Resorts from Montreal??

Hi

I'm after a bit of help from you locals.

We are heading to Montreal from Zurich on January 2nd for 10 days, we were meant to go skiing at Mont Tremblant but the forecast looks so bad we are thinking of trying to go somewhere else. The problem is it needs to be from Montreal as we can't change our flight with Swiss, I've found Jazz fly to Quebec from YUL where we could go to Mont St Anne if this is any good??

Any other ideas guys?

Quebec has hills, British Columbia has mountains and quite a bit of snow up there at the moment.

For BC, fly to Vancouver. I've never skiied out there, so not too familiar with the resorts, but Whistler-Blackcomb is the big one.

I've done a lot of skiing in the Canadian Rockies. Fly to Calgary Alberta and the ski resorts begin an hour away. Not sure what the conditions are like this year, but this should tell you:

Whistler has had record snowfalls this year. They opened a week early and are preparing for their 5th or 6th massive dump. This is an exceptional year. I would go to YVR then take the bus to Whistler. Depending on your choice of hotel, you may get dropped off right in front. Worst case is to get off at "The Loop" and taxi from there.

For Quebec, Mont St Anne is a good bet. Try here http://www.skisnowquebec-city.com/en/ if you haven't yet.
Anyway you have to visit Quebec city.

Why not try Stowe, Vermont. My wife and I had our honeymoon there a few years ago when the snw out west wasn't very good and we found it to be great skiing and an excellent community. We flew into YUL and drove about 2 hours down to Vermont. The skiing is surprisingly enough comparable to the Rockies as far as the skiing terrain goes and the variety of runs. Even living here in Calgary I would go back in a second.

If you don't want to fly there is always Jay Peak just across the border. Very quiet resort but good skiing.

I am in Vancouver at the moment - with season pass:ok: - and I have to say the 5 days I've done so far are amongst the best I have ever had.

Looks like it will be good mountain biking weather in the east.
Seriously, go west. Better skiing for less money. Right after New
Year is a bit of dead spot so you should find accomodation no problem.
The interior of BC has a look of great resorts you've never heard of.

Yup, having an absolutely GREAT season out here. It just never seems to stop dumping. Whitewater (shame on you, Nelson boy, for promoting Red;) ) currently has 285cms, 55 over the past 3 days, and 30 in the past 24 hours!

When were you out here CDN Bush? What are you doing now? C'mon home anytime, looks like the season could drag on late!
