View Full Version : Why does my FMC dislike AMS?

I have been searching for a reason why the Smith's FMC on my company's
B737 300/500s does not like the VALKO 1S SID rwy 24 at AMS.

Firstly, the FMC spits out the route and puts a discontinuity before the first waypoint EH001 and quite often the autothrottle will disconnect when standing the thrust levers up to 40%.

I have replaced the first wp using a lat/long defined wp which seems to cure the FMC from spitting the route but even with this in place the autothrottle will still disconnect.

This is the only airfield / SID combination where I have experienced this problem and it often results in departing in heading select and manual thrust until the situation can be tidied up at a convenient time during the departure.

Can anyone shed any light on why this should occur and practical solution to enable a more normal departure with LNAV and autothrottle engaged?
