I live in Staines, and since June have had a lot of flights fly over my house
I've been on to BAA to complain, and they say it's due to an aircraft computer program error which has now been rectified, but they still seem to be flying the very outside left edge of the NPR on westerly departures
Apparently the DVR SID was to blame
Does anyone know about this ?

The 27L DVR SID problem has been posted before. The problem was Jepps programmed the initial turn point wrongly, this meant the aircraft turning 1 mile earlier tha they should. On 23 Nov the recoding occurred and the aircraft are now back where they were before the minor error.

The thing is the a/c do not seem to be back where they were before, that is according to most interested residents of my street

This was originall discussed under a differnt thread regarding Heathrow's north runway. At the end of the thread a user called Flightman highlighted the DVR problem. The solution was in the system, but the way AIRAC cycles work it took until 23 Nov

Bluesman666, As Pheighdough says, I do have some knowledge of this issue. I wont repeat what he's said, because he's spot on, as usual. :ok:

Looking at the way the routes track keeping performance has decreased since around 24th June, I'm expecting to see a gradual improvement in performance, over the next 3 to 4 months. I hope the BAA complaints team made that clear to you, but things sometimes get misinterpreted, both ways.
The issue was identified early September, after looking at Augusts data. Jepps were informed and have rectified it now. We just need to let it filter its way through the system, and things should return back to normal. :D
One thing I would say is this. The issue has been so public, I doubt if anyone in Staines is unaware of it! :eek: Looking at where some of the complaints have come from, the fix won't help as lots of those people have been under the DVR since it was designed. Its all about awareness.

Strange the such an august company should make such an error; at my airfield, I recently cautioned a pilot on being too low when he was downwind for a visual; he replied no minimum altitude was stated in his Jepp info; I have no reason to disbelieve him (ATC has no knowledge what these independent suppliers - who are not regulated - publish about their airfield) and an e-mail to Jepp to query it remains unanswered.
I personally think Jepp should be required to send their airfield packages to the airfields concerned for verification prior to publication; we have asked them to do this but they refuse, and expect you to pay for a whole regional package with updates instead!
