For those interested in WW1 aviaiting, this Sunday, the second episode in the (UK) Channel 5 series on the Victoria Cross covers the First World War, including William Leefe Robinson's decoration for bringing down a 'Zeppelin'.

The programme includes a reconstruction of the events of 2nd September 1916, filmed at Sywell earlier this year (almost on the 90th Anniversary as it turned out!).

There's more on the filming of this and a copy of Leefe Robinson's combat report on our website: www.biggles-biplane.com

I enjoyed the reconstruction - the shots of Captain Leefe Robinson firing and then the airship exploding were very good but I was disappointed that it was so short. I was hoping that there would be a shot of the memorial in Cuffley which was erected by the readers of the Daily Express and sited on the spot where the airship came down.
However, it is good to see mention made of so many very brave and often very young people.
