Hi

I was wondering if you can tell me if turboprop (B200) traffics are allowed to fly into Heathrow. I would say no so... what's the nearest alternative for exec traffics?

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

We do occasionally get B200's in but not very often. It is possible though.

The nearest for exec types would probably be northolt or farnborough a bit further afield, but i'm sure someone more in the know has a better alternative.

Biggin Hill is a suitable alternative and closer to London than Farnborough.

As far as I know you can go into heathrow in a turboprop, Unless its changed recently. I've been in there a fw times in twin pistons and air traffic were great in slotting me in. The only problems were in getting a slot in the first place, organising handling(which was really expensive), and then getting out. I remember having to wait a few hours for a slot outbound.

As far as alternatives go, theres northholt, which has a cafe which serves great bacon butties, biggin hill, blackbush and farnbourgh. Blackbush and biggin were the easiest, and there quite close.

I think so long as you can fly at 160kts to 4 miles you shouldn't have a problem.

The last time I went in there, I got a late landing clearance as concorde was crossing the end of the runway and I was parked on the cargo ramp. I felt rather small next to the 747s etc.

Living close to Farnborough, and having driven around Biggin Hill, I think I'd go for the former!

We used to operate EMB-120's into LHR for scheduled flights couple of years ago. KLM operated F-50's into LHR at the time these are surely equal to a B200 as far as speed if not slower.

Ahhh those were the days the little silver coastrider on T33 :)

KLM still operate turboprops on the Eindhoven and Rotterdam routes. F50 as mentioned above.

There is a C130 occasionally on a cargo route.

I never did get to say: "Negative Coastrider, the pattern is full......." :(

I remember one day sitting in GMC watching the Deps man launch a F50 behind the Air Algerie C130, anticipating no problem. The C130 was so slow he had to give the F50 a very early right to avoid! First and only time I've seen a F50 catch something up at Heathrow! :D

I have witnessed a F50 being sent around.

And no before you ask it wasn't me! A Bae146 yes but not a fokker.

There was a German registered B200 at Heathrow a couple of weeks ago - on a saturday I think.

When was the last time anyone can remember a single engined turbo
at Heathrow?
The only one off the top of my head being a Danish PC12 in March 2002!
