Somewhat lost, he flew the whole zone.....east to west, then north to south. If he'd been charging for a sight seeing tour he'd've made a fortune. Flew over the city then west to heathrow, intercepted by a police heli, then north to Northolt and out the zone. Believe it caused havoc with Heathrow and Northolt traffic.

The virgin balloon that was in the Aberdeen zone a year or two ago was airborne for quite a while, but the problem was solved by a policeman with a loud hailer.

He could also have used a pin - just one prick and the Virgin would be gone

Thank you for making me damned-near choke on the ale I was drinking, Mr. More. :ok:

Heathrow shut briefly twice during the Cherokee's little escapade, where was the Tornado to gently escort him out of Her Majesty's capital?

Presumably it was in Iraq or Pakistan or some other exotic location attempting to escort various other flying devices from other people's capitals. Perhaps the policeman should have escorted the interloper to a hold until the airborne cavalry arrived?

It's okay, The Sun (http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006520544,00.html) is on the case.

As usual the Sun is wrong in many key respects..... ;)

I'd love to know who the Heathrow source was. Quite clearly they were not an 'informed' source, because of the amount of errors in the article, and I would strongly suspect that the sum total of their aviation experience is the fact that they work at an airport, or were visiting one. I would also suggest that they did not even see the aircraft, based on where they said it was and what it did.

<<Heathrow shut briefly twice >>

Heathrow Airport doesn't "shut"! Some aircraft may have been delayed but the place doesn't shut.

We never close !

Absolutely, just a figure of speech old boy. Just a few unfortunate delays and exciting go arounds, but everything else ticking along nicely.

Just as the two people yesterday were never lost, they were just unsure of their position ;)

If it's the Mike Sullivan journo I know he's a PPL; was part owner of an aircraft I bought; I can't believe it's the same one as he was pretty competent.
Anyone know where the aircraft took off/landed? It doesn't seem to mention in the article.
There was another about 18 months / 2 years ago that did a similar thing; that was South African; flew around Windsor with Heathrow landing on 09s, they had to break a couple off the ILS!!
