Anyone know somewhere where I can take my ground exams cheaply? I've been studying hard and given that I have a few months before I can start the flying training I would like to get at least some of the exams out of the way.

I haven't firmly chosen a school yet, though I have MSF cambridge and NSF Sibson in mind.

Note: I'm just looking for somewhere that will let you turn up and take the exam for a reasonable price without joining the club/school.

Nobody has replied to you, so I though I'd have a go. I'm sorry, but I can't be directly of help because I'm not from the Cambridge area.

Not all Flying Schools require you to be members to take the examinations. It may be worth giving them a ring.

After a bit of Googling around:

Flying schools in Cambridgeshire:
www.cambridgeaeroclub.co.uk (http://pplmania.com/ppltrainer/schools/Cambridge_Aero_Club.htm)
www.cambridgeflyinggroup.co.uk (http://www.cambridgeflyinggroup.co.uk/)
www.flying-club-conington.co.uk (http://www.flying-club-conington.co.uk/)
www.masfcambridge.com (http://www.masfcambridge.com/)
www.rfcbourn.flyer.co.uk (http://www.rfcbourn.flyer.co.uk/)
www.walkbury.com (http://www.walkbury.com/)

You may find that it would be easier to sit your exams after a handful of flying lessons too, as some of the things that you learn will have practical relevance, also you may bump into some other students so you can discuss exam tips.

I agree with tigger, some parts of airlaw, you may struggle with from the book, however, once a few lessons have been taken, sort of makes some sense !

Give RFC at Bourn a call and ask them. They are on 01954 719 602

Can't comment on cheap - but NSF Sibson also have a regional RT examiner on site.

dark helmet's suggestion is a good one. The people at Bourn are really friendly and I'm sure that they'd do you a good deal
