Hi,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to answer a few questions for me. I have the aptitude tests on the 23rd October and I am doing everything I can to prepare myself. I have read through the information pack that NATS advise prospective students to read and have also been able to get hold of an Air Traffic book. However, the book applies to candidates applying to become Air Traffic controllers in the US. The first section of the book deals with radar tests, whereby you are expected to answer several questions based on a radar screen, i.e. how long is the flight path of 'A' and so forth. I have searched through threads on the pprune website about preparation for NATS interviews and have not read that radar tests are part of the initial testing. Please could someone confirm this for me?

Thanks.:)

I did stage 1 a few weeks ago.
There are no radar questions. When you attend there is a short presentation about NATS, and then paper based numeracy and literacy tests, and spatial awareness tests.

Look at the SHL website link that NATS sent in your email for some examples of the tests involved.

Hi SHL is also doing the evaluation process for NavCanada and here's a few sample of the testing we did for selection. You might already have seen them anyway...

I am doing my testing in Montreal in November, I will be back after that to report on how it all goes and what they are looking for. I have been spending a little extra time on spatial relations, specifically the folding boxes and visual instruction stuff.

I did pretty well on the sample tests on the site listed above (about 90% overall, running with the stated time limits) but I don't think that is truly good enough. I am pushing hard to get right near the top :)
