What a cracking day we had yesterday! Perfect weather, and a warm welcome from the boys and girls in the TWR at Duxford... here are some of pics of the displays we saw as they were rehearsing for the main event today (they are expecting 20,000 spectators - but no crowds yesterday as the rehearsals were not publicised!):

Lucky!

I was on holiday in the UK this past August, with Mrs. Beechnut, and two Junior 'Nuts (I have three, third one stayed home for his summer job). One of them isn't aviation oriented but one is. So we dumped the Mrs. and the non-aviation son, and hopped into our rented (hired?) car and drove the not inconsiderable distance from Cirencester, where we were staying, to Duxford. What a treat! We had a hard time seeing the exhibits inside, as frequent announcements on the PA (Tannoy?) had us outside watching Mustangs, Spitfires, Hercs, and Apache choppers doing fly-bys, touch-and-goes, formation takeoffs, aerobatics, etc etc.

My son (14, who does a great job of flying his dad's Sundowner), had a blast, and so too did his dad. Best "boys' day out" we've had in ages. Heartily recommend the place. It was my second visit. I'll need at least a third and fourth to finally get to see all the exhibits.

Beech.
