Check the link to see why you should give parachute sites a wide berth or at least call us

Sibson, 31 Jul 2004.

Despite an intense investigation including tracing every Chipmunk in those markings it was not possible to establish which acft and pilot were involved I believe.

Skydiver should have had Mode S. Would've solved that problem.

Pilot should have had a map and know how to read it. Would've solved that problem.

I know the guy that happened to. Shame he doesn't get royalties for the video (and the shock he got!) - might be rich man by now...:}

Based on the fact that that's at Sibson, I'd hazard a guess that it's the same airframe (Chippie in ex-RAF red/white markings) that I saw buzzing the Military Cemetary at Madingley (just outside Cambridge) around at, I'd guess, 200-300' agl (definitely breaking Rule 5, either way) this time last year, in decidedly skoshie weather conditions.

Well it's 26nm from Sibson to Madingley, but I wouldnt assume its the same aeroplane. There's at least 5 Red/White Chipmunks based at Duxford alone..

The offender at Sibson was never traced, otherwise I'm sure he would have had his collar felt by the CAA by now.:=

I seem to recall he had also flown through the Cottesmore MATZ and several other ATZs without any contact being made. Lucky he was never caught.

TCAS is what they both need.

Like to see a parachutist respond to a TCAS RA to climb . . . . ;)

An ex-colleague of mine had a close encounter of a similar nature... with a C-130 :uhoh: Reckons he saw the look of horror on the pilot's face (and vice-versa, as he would readily admit :} )

This was not in a sporting context, I must add.
