Can anyone tell what devices the MD11 has on its wings for high lift. I have looked at photo's and trying to get right before an interview. Are the LE slats? and the flaps....double slotted?anyn help, pointers would be great.

MD-11 has 1 inboard and 1 outboard flap surface per wing for a total of 4. The LE slats are 2 inboard and 6 outboard panels. (total 16).

The Flaps and Slats (LE) can be operated independantly.

The MD-11 has an Auto Flap Limiting system above 175kts. Slats will auto-extend when airspeed nears stall speed.

Good Luck!

TE flaps have a foreflap or vane so are double slotted.
On the DC10 LE slats have 3 positions Retracted, Take Off, Full Extend so presume MD11 is the same. Normally operated by the Flap lever but on the DC10 it was possible to separate them in non-normal situations.
On the DC10 stick shaker activation would extend the outboard slats to the TO position and lock them there requiring a manual pilot reset to retract them. Again, presume MD11 is similar.
