Judge, thanks for your support mate, in fact thank you to everybody who supported the March. It was an excellent day and we're doing it next year - just in time for my legs to stop aching!
I'll speak to the Team Captain about a link/donation avenue. ZUJ.

In memory Ben and of the 14 men who's lives were lost 3 years ago today on the 2nd September 2006 when Nimrod XV230 exploded over Afghanistan. Also thinking of the sadness within their families today.
How often we hear aircraft, soaring overhead
How often we think of those 14 men, now that they are dead.
Every day , Every day.
How often we hear their voices somewhere far away
How often do we wish we had never seen them
Walk away , Walk Away
Those 14 men, that band of brothers took from us that day.
Who's last words which will always haunt us all.
Mayday . Mayday

We both attended the short service at the Arboretum yesterday and left some flowers for all the crew on behalf of those that couldn't make it (we are fortunate in being less than an hour away). Three years on and it is still difficult to come to terms with the loss. It is sobering to see how many names have been added since the inscriptions for crew 3 and 2009 names have yet to be added.
Best wishes to all our friends, stay safe.
J and PWA
I had the privilege of attending a memorial service yesterday at the base that the crew took off from on their fateful mission. Virtually everyone on the base turned out, despite the heat, and it was a touching and fitting tribute to their memory. RIP.

I can't believe that it has been 4 years. I'd just pranged my car and got to the pub late for lunch. I walked in to see Mrs SMT writing down the names as she got the call from her duty people. Still such a shock to the system.
Leigh, our course print has pride of place on my study wall. You were always a gentleman, and always better at golf than me!
A week ago, I was hunting through some old photos from my teenage "spotter" days and came across a photo of XV230 overshooting at Turnhouse. It brought tears.
Rest well,

Remembering Gary A, Gary Q, Ady, and all the others from CXX/3 and CXX/9 - you're gone lads, but never forgotten. Don't have "beer with a real head" where I am at the moment, but a glass of Speyside will have to do.

I’ve just found some pictures of 230, that I took May 2005. It was the last time she visited the paint shop at Norwich airport.
I appreciate the sensitivity of all, and wondered if it’s out of order to post them or not?
Your feedback greatly appreciated, and obviously if I’m out of order, apologies

Hi Colt, personally I think this thread is probably best left for the families, friends and acquaintances of those lost.
I have just trawled the old threads and this one would be ideal
http://www.pprune.org/military-aviation/553879-nimrod-pic-3.html
There are a few threads running on platform types at the moment and hopefully you will prompt a few more to post Nimrod photos, perhaps you could suggest a new Maritime Monday thread?

Good news, well 'good' in a Facebook Like sort of way, the stonemasons are out in Davyhulme this week!
After many years of struggling with bureaucracy Gary Q's name is being added to the war memorial at Davyhulme circle. [This is two years after a Naval officer was added to another North West War memorial after being shot by one of his own crew whilst tied up in a friendly port, yes I know some in the Navy don't count Southampton and a friendly port!]
A short dedication service at the memorial will be held on:
Sunday 22nd November
14:00
Davyhulme War Memorial
Followed by beer & bull**** at:
John Alker Club
(Flixton Ex-Servicemen's Association)
So if you knew Q, and he doesn't owe you money, your are welcome.
PM me for any more info.
