Hello all, I am an American that would love to work for cathay( i know i know, take a number), had a few questions on how to fill out the application since some of the wording is different from what I am used to here in the states. I would be applying for the SO position.

What is or what address is to be used for correspondence? I think this would be the address where I receive mail? which is the same as my residential address hence the confusion.

Flight crew licenses, I have an FAA SIC license in a Falcon 20, is this where I'd list this?

Multi-Engine Instrumet Rating Valid Until? Here in the states it never expires, what have some other americans listed here and have been successful?

I have passed my FAA ATP knowledge exam but do not hold an FAA ATP ceftificate, should i circle yes to all subjects passed? Should I wait to I hold an ATP certifcate to apply?

What is considered Secondary education? Further education?

Correspondence - same as residential address

Flight crew licences - in your case CPL

Multiengine Instrument rating - your next 8410

ATPL subjects - Not completed. They require you to have completed all the ICAO ATPL subjects.

Secondary education - High School
Further education - College or University.

Full ATPL is a min. requirement for SO position with CX.

Hope this helps you.:ok:

An ICAO Airline Transport Pilot's License (ATPL) (obtained without exemptions) or ICAO Commercial Pilot's License (CPL) (obtained without exemptions) with passes in all ATPL ground examinations
Experience commensurate with ageI cut and pasted this from the CX website. I have number 1 if they consider an FAA ATP test result as the ground portion? In the usa you simple study and take the test. There aren't any courses needed. For the next one, anyone know how they determine this? I am 26 and flying a falcon 20 sic, is that up to par?

I'm also a bit confused by the application.

I hold an FAA ATP.

Obviously an FAA certificate IS an ICAO license. And I had to pass a ground (written) examination. So should I circle "All ATPL subjects passed"? I feel that if I don't circle it I won't meet the screening criteria. But of course in the US we don't have "subjects". It's only one test.

Someone wrote that for "Multiengine instrument rating" I should put the date of my next air carrier required flight check. But that seems not right to me. For one thing, it has no bearing on my certificate or right to exercise "multiengine instrument" priviliges. I'm planning on just putting "no expiration date".

Additional question:

The application says to provide a "passport style" photograph of yourself. Curious if people here actually provided a little 2"x2" photo or included a normal size photo in the passport pose.

Thanks.

Put that you have completed all atpl if you have your atp. Be prepared to bring along your atp written results to the interview. Anything they have questions about should not be a problem as long as you were not intentionally trying to mislead, which it does not sound like you are.

Good Luck

When I received my ATP they collected the written results. Does anyone know how to get a copy? The app. says they want an original so I'm not sure where on Earth to get it. Thanks for the replies.

I brought a copy (not original) of my ATPw test results to the interview. No complaints from the interviewers. I got it from the FAA in Oklahoma City. You have to send in a written request and a check for $2 something dollars. The address is on the FAA website. Send it in now! It took about a month to get mine.

You'll need to call airman certification branch at (405)954-3261 or (866)878-2498 and speak to Jo Johnson, who will tell you to send a written request along with a $2.25 check. They have your ATP written results on microfilm which they'll pull out and send you a copy of. Mine took two weeks to get, I sent my request via fedex overnight.

Yes circle that you've passed all subjects, since you have the ATP cert. "No expiration date" is exactly what I put on there for the inst. rating. I gave them a passport size picture. They had no problems with either. They also ask you to show proof of your instrument rating which your ATP includes but is not mentioned on the certificate itself. BUT get a copy of your records from the FAA website airman certificate section (which will be e-mailed to you instantly) and it will include a statement saying that having an ATP certificate means you also have an instrument rating and no separate document is required to show that since it's a requirement for the ATP cert., this statement is there specifically because of Cathay. And Cathaty knows all this already, but since they're an international airline hiring people from many countries their stated requirements have to cover all possible variations form diff. countries.:ok:

For the photo, I did the "passport pose" on my own camera, printed it out on nice paper on my own computer, and mailed it in. Got the call for an interview, so I guess it worked.:ok:

Thanks, HeavyWrenchFlyer, for the advice on the USA certificate confirmation showing IFR rating. Worked like a charm and saved me a lot of time and delalys.
Regards.

Going on my second interview in HK. The packet sent in the mail to me says "-For FAA Licence holders, you must obtain a radio/telephone licence from the FAA."

I have a FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit. As far as I know, the FAA does not issue Radio Permits. Do they mean my FCC Radio Permit?
