Qantas strikes grnd equip at Lax

News reports indicate that a Qantas 747 struck ground equipment while taxiing to the terninal damaging the number 4 engine. Does anyone have further news and or pictures in regards to this incident.?:(

QFA11 from Sydney that was stuck by a pallet loader whilst taxying to the bay after landing. QFA12 was subsequently cancelled.

What a pointless thing to say, aircraft always have right of way on taxi ways!

Well yes, but that doesn't stop some numbskull trying to nip across in front of that big slow ole bird rolling down the taxiway, and I don't think they realise just how long it takes to stop a loaded 747!

Think that the tower might have some explaining to do as to why they hadn't asked the truck to vacate the taxiway, or wait clear!

It's a serious wonder at this place that there aren't more ground collisions. Probably the only time I think that aircraft should be fitted with turn indicators is taxying around LAX!

Must have been a QANTAS catering truck driver from SYD - they were renown for damaging the aircraft!!!!!

I wouldn't be too quick to blame ATC. It surprises me when looking on the UK AAIB website how often there are comings together investigated between aeroplanes and baggage trucks, airstairs, catering trucks etc. When these guys are on the apron ATC don't direct them
At Heathrow it seems to be one a month - presumeably as they have more aeroplanes and ground vehicles than anybody else. So this is really a common (although unfortunate, very expensive and probably eminently avoidable) occurence.

I've been sitting in the back at LAX and witnessed #1 Eng of a 340-600 pass over an empty container dolly. The dolly train was on the roadway and the a/c, naturally, was in its correct position also
