Does anyone have any information about the A340-200 (early line numbers I believe) that had a bump installed under the wing to improve performance. The bump is located between the engines underside of the wing. I have been searching for a pic of it but have had no luck.

Thanks much in advance.

Yeah, it seems like a oneway rocket. Used by Boeing e.g. on 727 to boost it up in case of an engine failure on high elevation airports like La Paz.

The airbus version works without stars and stripes:)

Thanks but I was not talking about rocket assisted takeoffs. :\

Unless i'm misunderstanding what you mean, it's a plastron fairing & the seals constantly fall out. It was also on the A340-300, purely aerodynamic & not on later aircraft.
