I tend to use Metoffice, Avbrief and the AIS websit as my regular preflight checks on the internet Notam Plot to get Notams.

Would be interested to hear what web sites others use as a routine before flying.

I check Notam Plot and the Met Office but then go to the BBC Weather website for a decent forecast. :E

http://www.avbrief.com for short term weather (This is about £60/year if you want UK radar data)
http://www.arl.noaa.gov/ready/cmet.html for other weather data, e.g. longer range, en route temperature profiles, weather at a specific point
http://weather.uwyo.edu/upperair/sounding.html for actual skew-t
http://pages.unibas.ch/geo/mcr/3d/meteo/ for forecast skew-t (to get cloud tops, temperature profiles, etc)
http://www.sat.dundee.ac.uk/auth.html for cloud cover images if you want nice VMC
http://www.ais.org.uk to get notams (narrow route briefing)
http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ to generate an IFR route
http://www.cfmu.eurocontrol.be/chmi_public/ciahome.jsp?serv1=ifpuvs to validate an IFR route
http://www.homebriefing.com to file an ICAO flight plan (Euro 36/year flat rate)
http://www.ead.eurocontrol.int/ for some national AIPs, usually to get free approach plates

That's for starters :O

I should add that if I can drive there quicker, then I drive. The above is for longer trips, obviously.

I go to wifelovers.com occasionally before I fly to relieve the stress.

Hey - useful websites..... Just a quick question that I should probably know the answer to but what does "PIB" stand for?

I'm reffering to the Notamplot software under the "Purpose" heading within a Notam

Thanks

Pre-flight Information Bulletin - defined within the help file (and probably elsewhere): http://www.ais.org.uk/aes/en/image/PIBGuide.PDF
