If fuel prices hit $100...right now it was over US$72/barrel....would the hiring continue at AC or WJA....would there be lay offs to come in the possible future. Could anyone from AC or WJA respond, with AC just out of bankrupcy and Westjet with its low cost model....would they be able to cope or would layoffs happen.

I don't know if anybody can predict what is to happen, but..

One company has a history of layoffs and the other does not. That should tell you something but not the whole story. If oil hits $100 the ticket prices will have to rise to cover some of the costs and that may have a de-stimulating effect on traffic which goes against the whole "low-cost" model. That de-stimulation may lead to the need for layoffs at both carriers, so you never know.
