Forgive me, but this is a strange question and needs more elaboration.

Airlines can refuse to carry you into a country based on your passport. However, they do not endorse your passport so you are free to try another means of entering a country, perhaps by buss or maybe even another airline.

I think the answer is No, but they do have a very clear responsibility to ensure that you have the right documents to travel to a particular country, as they may be faced with fines at the destination in the event of an immigration rejection and costs of carrying the passenger back to origin.
