Wondering if anyone here can shed any light on what an unusual formation of helicopters was doing over High Wycombe tonight at about 18:30 local, and a Friday night!

As we drove pass EGTB, a line astern formation consisting of a Puma, EH101, Chinook and S/R Sea King passed by at about 1500' agl and heading south.

Fantastic sight and sound under low, dark and ominous looking clouds.

It was a flypast for the 3 Gp disbandment dinner.

Thanks Plastic, I saw the "AWACS and SAR Seaking over Benson" thread just after I posted my question.

BEagle,

Fully concur, but with the dwindling of FW and RW fleets, at least a few of our minimal finest are noticed. :{

Yeah, no what you mean Beagle. It was just the fact that it was 4 disparate types flying in close line astern formation under a dark heavy sky that mad it interesting, to me at least. From where I was, they passed low overhead and the sound of all those engines under a low cloud base was quite impressive!
