Hey, good people!
Noticed an ad on Flight International today.
The ad didn`t say much about where the position is (apart from a twr/app, I guess..). This is what the Job description say:

Job DescriptionATC immediate vacancy for ATCO (potential SATCO)
Min. aerodrome and approach; met observer's cert. an advantage.
North of England
Apply with full CV to the address given below.

So...Where is "North of England"????

The contact details didn`t give any info either. Not even a mail-adress...

Thanx for any info!

Anything above Watford.

Anything above Watford.

Well, that sure did narrow it down... :8

Anyone else?

Anyway, looking at the "unprecise" detalis of the ad, I suppose we`re not talking about a major airport...

My guess:

North of England, no Radar required. Possibility of becoming SATCO (small unit / high turnover).

Gotta be Carlisle, with Woodvale as an outside bet

I am informed that it is Carlisle. Rather unappealing isn't it...

Rather unappealing? The border city, rich in history and heritage, and a league topping football team to boot!

Obviously never visited the lakes either, eh :hmm:

From other fora it would appear that Carlisle's just been bought by Eddie Stobart; yes the one with the moving roadblocks.

Quite nice to drop into Carlisle for fuel stops every now and then. City, when not flooded, is quite historic, but with all mod. cons. Well except the ability to get anywhere. Hills are great for walking, watch out for the military firing ranges though.

Gyros, helicopters, singles, twins are resident from memory. Bizjets and Tucanos visit regularly.

Runway plans lying around to flatten it out and extend for 737s.

As you don't get Virgin Atlantic, Blue, Nigeria or Express, you at least get Virgin Trains as compensation.

The post code is Sutton, between Epsom and Croydon

Let's hope the new employer at least believes in sick pay for its twr/apc controllers at Carlisle... I believe that's one reason why they keep leaving!!
