Hi All,
My first flight was on a Dan Air flight from Gatwick to Tenerife back around 1991/2, i wonder if anyone can help me out with what the likely aircraft was?

DA had such a varied fleet. However, guessing I'd say it would have most likely been their B727s on the Tenerife runs.
In 1991/2 DanAir had 727s and 737s on that run. It might even have been an AB 300. It would be extremely unlikely to have been the 1-11 althought he porr dear dod sometimes get that far:eek: .
Just on a 1 in a million chance, if you have the date I can check my logbook?

Cheers guys,
I have been travelling regularly for past few years on 737 747 and a few buses, but have been wondering if i had been on anything else..
Cant help with the date, although it was December and the weather at Gatwick was so foggy, we had an extra unscheduled night on holiday which was great for a first time traveller!
Anyway, just dug out the photo's and have one of the cabin, all it shows is 3 + 3 and 2 overwing emergency exits... any help?
btw, as it was my first flight i visited the cockpit and had a chat to the pilots and was amazed at how old fashioned all the knobs and swithes looked!

Must have been about 1980 - my first flight Dan Air comet. Next flight was Monarch 1-11 with 'seat back catering' - a sandwich tucked behind the seat table. Also all passengers had to be weighed as they not sure if 1-11 could make it to spain without refuelling.

Memory playing tricks - must have been early/mid 70's my flights with Dan Air and Monarch 1-11.

That'll be a 727-200 or 737-400 then. Did you happen to notice whether the flight-deck was 2 or 3 person? The 727s had larger flight-decks and a flight engineer.
larger flight-decks and a flight engineer - from my experience, that should read "larger flight-decks and a larger flight engineer":) :)

And why would it be a 737-400 with 3+3 seating and not a 737-200 or 737-300?

But a -400 has 4 overwing exits, 2 on either side!
Indisputably correct, PF - it is just that in the world I operate in (commercial aviation) the 400 is distinguished from 3/5/6/7 by having '2 overwing exits' amongst other differences, of course.

In the world I operate in (COMMERCIAL aviation) an aircraft is distinguished by it's seating capacity. I doubt that the beancounters count emergency exits in preference to counting bums on seats capability!

OK, so, 2 overwings each side, 3+3 and as i remember just two pilots, so it looks like it must have been a 737-400,
Not interesting to many, but i was just wondering :)
Looks like i wont get to go on a 727 then, but thanks for all the info guys,
