Guys/Gals,

Quick Q about the speed profile.

Depart and recieve the instruction 'no speed control' (When below FL100)

Do I take this to mean...

Warp speed approved (thanks...)

Or, do I have the approval to go above 250 kts but still have to maintain 290kts?

Second Q. We Usually reach cruise before reaching the end of the SID. I have always taken it to mean that the speed profile then no longer applies and so accelerate to cruise speed. Am I correct?

Cheers....

Yes, it means warp speed approved as far as ATC are concerned, however, you still need to fly at a speed to allow you to comply with SID track keeping. Don't know if MAN has any tight turns on its SIDs but some, at LHR for example, would still require you to fly at a relatively low speed until you'd made the turn. Otherwise you might get a letter and a fine from the nice noise monitoring chappies in the airport authority.

Speed restrictions are not linked to cruise. In the UK, it would apply until the SID termination fix is reached (assuming you then enter airspace with no posted speed limit), or you reach the published Flight Level (FL100) where the restriction no longer applies.
