I went through my first stage of cadet selection which i had written in August 2005, got an email on November sayin that I have been invited for the final assesment in December 2005, got an email a couple of weeks later saying that its delayed to January2006. There was nothin in January n no emails from them after that!!!!???
Y is it so unproffesional, y cant they notify the guys again if there was any furthur delay, even though it would cause alot of inconveniance.
Can anyone let me know what the hell is goin on...its been almost 6-8 months and cant they finish all this??!!!

i dont have a clue about this cadet recruitment, but please come on take a chill pill.

After all if you really think that Gulf is unprofessionnal go apply somewhere else, we dont need you! nobody is pressing you to apply to an unprofessional airline ?!

i think that calling your "maybe" next employer unprofessionnal is not a smart move.

thats my point of view.

Qatar has also a cadet scheme, apply to them, they might be "more professionnal".

you have to learn to stay cool in this business even in the worst situation. if you can not do that you might not be suitable for this job, thats it !

chill out my friend

Yeah, and while you're swallowing the chill-pill why don't you learn how to spell professional...make you look unprofessional when you spell unprofessional incorrectly:\

Show a little bit of initiative and pick up the phone mate - it's really not that hard.
I can guarantee you with the insight you've given us of your attitude you will not be welcome here.
Where do you get off calling GF so unprofessional? Did I read correctly you have applied to the Cadet program?
Sunshine, you have a lot to learn if you want to make it anywhere beyond phase two of Cadet Selection in this industry.
You been trying 6-8 months.... poor thing!
Adopt a slightly more relaxed approach to everything mate, ask some intelligent questions, show a little bit of initiative, decorum and respect to a Company that you're considering may be your Employer for at least the next 10 years.
There is a lot of well qualified GF personnel that would only be to happy to answer you question on this Forum. I seriously doubt you'll get anything more than continual rebuttals as long as you display such an immature, ill meaning attitude.

Again, learn to spell.

trekster90 ...besides your serious grammatical shortcomings, your juvenile attitude and impatience are not commensurate with airline culture. You may be well to do to seek another line of work because the airline business is all about what you are experiencing right now, and more.

Have you been brought up with this crazy idea that the world owes you something? :{

GF as ALL the carriers in the ME are desperate for pilots. U passed the initial, which means they are looking at you. Things change every day, and in ANY airline, don't expect an answer, unless, they really want you. If they did, they would be asking you. One thing you should never do, is run down an airline, before you even started. If thats your attitude, then, don't ever expect to come here, in the first place. It,s frustrating yes, coz you want an answer, yes, or no. Be patient. You will get it, if they want you.

Hey Trekster90,
Learn to respect urself. U just dont come here n talk all kinda bad things about the airline. As Tic said,if they need u,they would give u a buzz.
For ur info, im on the same boat as u r rite now. Im just patiently waiting n hoping for the best. U gotta change ur attitude. Even though I dont work for the airline rite now, I would not stand someone just writing all sort of unwanted comments
Try n improve ur spelling

First of all i would want to make it clear that i didnt mean to express myself in a way to cause all kind of misunderstandings.
Its all bcoz im really frustrated since`
1) Ive been waiting for a real long time n this was what i always wanted to do,it was my dream to fly
2) The worse part was that they had given me a date and they did not even send me a mail mentioning the delay. i do not mind the delay, but atleast keep the candidates informed.
3) How can one prioritise his plans, whatever it may be, when he doesnt have an idea about what happening on the other side.
I just hope u guys understand how i feel, thats all.
Cheers!

What a bunch of ignorant w****rs! Honestly! You lot got nothing better to do than just dish out grief to a lad you don't even know!
Get a life, the lot of you!
Sounds like you lot need to change your attitudes and pull that stick right out because it's people like you that give this industry a bad name.
Check your own attitudes before you go around telling people about theirs.

Oh oh...look at me! I can spell correctly...that means I can fly a plane...BS!
Grammar has nothing to do with flying, it may help in certain areas but don't go around telling people about it alllll day. My god it's so tedious!

Hey there, Startrekster

I'm somehow puzzled. If you're a cadet, I presume that you must be local, used to the way things are done around here.

Boukra inshallah must not come to you as a shock.
So chill out; who knows, you might get lucky and parachute in a 330!!!

Hi trekster90,
As has been said before - use your initiative! Don't you have a telephone number to call - or just answer the email you got and ask what is happening and when to expect the next step. They usually know people don't just live into the day just waiting for them to call but have some other things to do as well ;)
Just from my own experience I know sometimes to just go out and do something pays off (ok - I don't mean: complaining about the company even before you start working for them  ).
As for me - I once applied for a job - got a call telling me to come to the interview on monday and I'd get an email with further instructions as to where I shall go to and when it will start. Never got the email, decided to head there anyways (that was heading from middle east to central europe!). I just went extra early to the HQ of the company. They figured out where I should go to - in a different part of town! Still got there on time though. It paid off well - I got the job :D
So - before you keep getting upset - do something about it! Pick a time when you aren't to aggravated - give them a call, be nice and civilized. Or if you mail them be sure to proof read it (or better have someone else to do that). I usually still do that nowadays with official letters - as has been said before - nothing worse than stupid typing errors in documents which should be professional looking! :hmm:
I even use (online) dictionaries when posting here as english isn't my first language! If you look for one - try: http://www.alphadictionary.com/langdir.html !
So - good luck - and keep us posted!
Eli

Eliason,
I have tried calling them quiet alot of times n even through guys who work with the GF admin. The answer is....'We dont know' or 'No idea about when its gonna be held'.
I have send mails to someone i know who is in charge of the programme and unfortunately no replies.
It doesnt make a difference if im a local or not.
So it leaves me very frustrated, when the guys in charge have no idea about whats happening.
Anyways.....

hey trekster90,
I can imagine what you're going through. I did my interview with another airline in the ME november last year and only got my results recenty.
Just like you, i emailed and called them up but unfortunate no one was able to give me a definite reply. To make things worse, i've been jobless for over a year now and my funds are running low! I even had to fund the travel costs by myself.
I had given up all hope till one day i recieved a phone call from the airline saying i got the job and will be starting early next month.
Besides waiting patiently, there's really nothing much you can do about it. GF is an established airline but just like any other in the middle east, they're bound to have organisational issues.
I'm sure you'll get a reply from them sooner or later. For now, what you can do is to start sending out applications to other airlines rather than just wait for a reply from GF. You never know, there might just be better opportunities out there for you.
Don't ever give up mate. You'll get the job sooner or later. Good luck! -SKT

Thanxs alot SKT. Since being a local and the programme is for Cadet Pilots, GF is the only place that i can apply. I guess I just have to wait n c what happens.
It leaves one very confused when they (management) dont have the right answer.

Occasionally they let us mods out to fly - when this happens the meek should take refuge and the rabble do as they may. Been a long day but I've weeded as much of the gunk out as I can find. Seems to me that this thread is attracting little more than a few louts at a corner would; certainly not the original intention. As disinclined as I am, I'm tempted to bin the whole thing.

And I've sent PRNAV1 to the cooler for a few days.

Hi trekster90,
Good to hear that you keep chasing them up...
I hope you are using your time in the meantime as well. Got a job so that in case they don't take you you'll have the money to get the licenses on your own? That's what I did - didn't get in for the program with our national carrier, so I got me a job, safed the money, got the training and then found another airline who took me... You might as well use the time while you wait for the answer , but I bet you do that anyways!
All the best - enjoy the time as well - once training starts it will be busy the next 1-2 years! :suspect:

So let me get ths right. You've banned prnav1 for sticking up for a person that was getting bullied by many others on your forum?? O.k his language may not have been appropriate but neither was the person who was talking about his mother??

To me this seems extremely unfair and one sided. Why should posters continually pick on others because of thier selling and grammer and others are not be able to stick up for them, especially those younger looking for a bit of advice. You shuld be ashamed, should we not help those with our expierence rather than ridiculing them? Disgusting behaviour from those who so call themselves professional.

I'm not sure where you are from, but in my books this goes along the lines of racial contempt. Good on you 4HP. There is no need for this sort of thing here.
Trekster 90...I can understand the disparity of suspence but there are Many airlines in this industry who behave much the same way. There are also those that do not (few). I would suggest comming up with a "plan B", or perhaps even a "plan C". If your heart is trully in the carrer ahead, your resourcefulness (I hope I spelled that right!) will provide the opportunities, not just the one airline you've pinned your hopes on.
Best of luck...that's half the battle...

I would not want this thread to turn out to be some kind of fighting ring. I have seen that there are alot of guys from Gf who actually read the threads around here. So if u guys can help me out by getting some kinda info would be great.
Ive got the latest news that they(GF) have already done the Final interview for Apprentice engineers n Graduate Entrty Management students a week back n these are a part of the Gulf National Programme.
So,the guys who would be having some kinda hold with the management plz get some info on whats goin on n when approximately they would be expecting to conduct the cadet interview!?
I was supposed to leave the country on the 1st week of Feb due to medical treatment within the family but couldnt make it,:ugh: due to whats going on regarding GF and was always expecting it to be soon n it leaves me stranded here.
So hope to get some help if possible:hmm:
