Just a question for anyone who has visited a unit before their interview. How long does it last and what should be expected?

Sorry, your question appears to have been overlooked.
Some pre-interview visitors stay with us for a couple of hours and others for four or five hours. Depends when you run out of questions and when you feel you've got as much as you need from the visit.
On rare occasions, usually because of other commitments, WE may have to be the ones to suggest it's time to leave, but normally things run their course and you'll leave at a mutually suitable moment.

As to what should be expected - the controllers will normally ask you what stage of the application process you're at, show you the various parts of the unit (VCR and Approach Radar in our case), explain in general terms how the system works, and where we fit into it; plug you in for a bit, so that you can see and hear what is going on, to get a feel for what the work involves, explain why they're doing what they're doing, talk about working shifts, about the job satisfaction, & about the days they'd rather not be here! (Low Visibility Procedures, snow clearance etc....:ugh: ).
And try to answer as many of your questions about the job as they can.
That's basically it - to give you some idea of what the job entails so that you have something to relate to during the selection process.
Hope that helps :ok:
