What seems strange is that that they had the alarm sounding for two hours and didn't land sooner.

United Airlines jet lands at Narita with pillow caught in door

NARITA, Japan, Jan. 29 (Kyodo) - A San Francisco-bound United Airlines jumbo jet from Taipei made an unscheduled landing at Narita airport east of Tokyo on Monday because part of a pillow was caught in one of its doors, airport officials said.

The U.S. carrier's Flight 844 with 367 passengers and crew aboard told the airport around 4 p.m. that it wanted to land at Narita to check an open-door alarm, they said.

The plane landed safely around 6 p.m. During checks, part of the pillow was found pinched in the bottom of the door on the right side of the second floor of the aircraft. The alarm stopped after the pillow was removed.

The plane took off for San Francisco at 7:09 p.m.

Flew to KL with Malaysian in a 744 a few moinths back. During a walk down the back, I noticed that one of the partition curtains was shut in the rear door. didn't seem to do any harm, but I thought it best not to try and pull it out!

Bubbette, The reason is seems strange is because it didn’t happen. This is just another case of bad journalism.
