Hi all,

A friend wants to charter an aircraft to take him, his wife, five cats, one parrot and a snake, from the Southend area to Geneva.

He will sort out all the DEFRA forms etc, and assuming the aircraft is not pressurised, the animals will be sedated (well certainly the cats, not sure about the parrot and snake)

airpets.co.uk have quoted £3.5K. Can anyone recommend another company that may be suitable ?

Any help appreciated:ok:

You probably want a different forum? It's all spam cans round here, after all.

There's some joke here about not needing the AI... maybe you could get a discount for a 'plane without a full panel! :p

Perhaps the snake could sedate the parrot and the cats? that would save a few bob.

Seriously, I think you posted this enquiry in another forum some time ago and the general consensus was that exposing cats to light aircraft travel was not the greatest idea.

The question of taking animals abroad by air has come up several times on this forum.

You might like to have a look at this thread: http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=157900.
Part of my reply is copied below, as it may help you and your friend.

"So far as taking the dog foreign is concerned, you may not. You may only use approved carriers and routes. Carriage of animals on private aircraft or boats is specifically forbidden. The link to the DEFRA (formerly the Ministry of Ag and Fish) website is http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quar...nfo/routes.htm

General advice on the Pets Travel Scheme is at http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/pets/"

Last time I looked, there were very few approved carriers to any destination.
