Often heard,especially on german airports,the 737 being called by the local atc,'Boby". Anyone here knows why?

Guess it's something that we grew accustomed to, its based on a story in a book that Lufthansa used to hand out to kids (around 20 years back or so) where several Boeing Airplanes acted as a family with the 737 as the kid named "Bobby".

It's from the American slang "Bobby-socks" meaning a youngster. Thus a fleet for the junior guys.........

Geez ETOPS, yer a brave fella (or fella-ess :D ) for making that sort of statement. I'll bet it starts ALLLLL sorts of fights! ;)
