Anyone heard about possible re-routing / cancellation of international flights out of Maiquetia?
Appears that the only serviceable road connecting Maiquetia to Caracas (and hence the rest of Venezuela) is out of action - one of the main bridges is on the verge of collapse and the Govt has shut the road - likely to be a permanent closure.

Have seen some reports that it is business as normal at the airport but also some rumours that it won't be long before pax nos take a hit due to difficulties in getting to the airport.

Govt has talked about potential switch of international flights to other Ven airports - although not sure that many carriers would be comfortable with the alternatives.

Lots of rumours about total closure of the main road due to serious structural problems on one of the bridges and the government about to request international carriers to " divert" to Valencia - so CCS residents looking at a 3 hr transfer as opposed to 45 mins

Hope to talk to some friends in CCS this weekend and will come back - but it looks fairly serious
