"Korean Airlines will become the first Asian airline to install ADVANCED TASER weapon devices on all its aircraft.". ..... ."The TASER weapons fire an electronic charge that instantly disables an attacker, allowing time for them to be restrained. Korean Airlines expects installation of the TASERs in aircraft to begin shortly.". .. .full text is at. .<a href="http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/020327/270054_1.html" target="_blank">http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/020327/270054_1.html</a>. .. .Is this the first airline to emplot TASERs in the cockpit??. .How much testing has been done. The electrical discharge will be rather more than the odd mobile phone.. .But better a disabled attacker and a piece of U/S instrumentation than the more worrying outcome.. .. .Perhaps we need a sticker on the outside of the cockpit door "beware, this flightcrew of this aircraft is TASER-equipped". .Shocking news... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />

Maybe not the first to buy Tasers....My carrier bought 600 or so of them to install in the cockpit.. .. .We're supposed to go on a one day "Security training course" before we're given the code to unlock the box their kept in, most are going this month but I've got one of those surplus lines where they pay you to stay at home (60 hrs vs 75).. .. .I'm not a fan of Tasers. I hope I can explain why simply enough for you.. .. .Taser work on two principles; Primarly a T-wave generation and secondarily and electic shock.. .. .The T-Wave interferes with the brains waves and just drops the subject like he's having a really major unpleasant orgasm. However, since it relies on a "wave" there is a "wavelength" and the darts need to strike an indivual at least six inches apart from each other for the T-wave to be resonanent. The darts are very close in the Taser pistol, and are angled out to achieve the spread. They don't reach six inches until approximately six-seven feet. So from the Captains seat in my airplane you'd have to open the cockpit door and shoot them in the First Class galley before the T-wave function would work.. .. .The backup electrical shock (Under six, seven feet) is unpleasant, and what one would feel if the T-wave isn't working because of distance. I kind of wonder what a few Percosets would do to alleviate the pain of the shock. Not to mentin just ripping the darts out of your skin because they annoy you.. .. .The best use of the Taser I have heard of was in my training as a policeman at the Massachusetts State Police Academy. Apparently five police were trying to subdue a big burly dude with Capsicum (Pepper Spray) but this dud was high on PCP. I should point out that the medium in the Pepper Spray is Alcohol. After the officers exhausting their cans of Pepper spray, they Tazed the perp. Just after the darts struck a thin blue glow was observed over the man's body as the Alcohol ignited.. .. .Now in my opinion, that's a good way for a Taser to stop someone.......Kinda reminded me of 1968 when the monks were playing with matches and gasoline in the streets of Saigon...... .. .In the 767 300 I fly, the door is 28 inches from the back of the head. Me, I think I'll use the crash axe first and have the First Officer Taser those in the background. Hu-AAAAAA!!!!!, let the heads roll.
