We have the choice between the 10 B-767's sistership airplanes from CO or the A-350 for the renewal of the fleet, that should happen in 2010.

We were supposed to get an answer in December, but as of yet, i didn't read anything about it...

Anyone heard anything about it? :)

Would those be the 767-400?

Cheers.

If i am not mistaken they should be 300's series... not the 400. But i may be wrong.

According to their website they do not have any -300's... Just the trusty -200 and the -400... The -200 might be a little long in the tooth, they may be looking to pass them on to another operator...

Cheers.

is that both 310s and 332s? 350s might seem a bit big for the 310 routes... 764s might be just the job capacity wise. Not sure 762s would count as "renewal"!

Since TS is looking to operate new destinations in Asia and South America, the company has to get a longer range of a/c's.

And the 310's can't go to Asia direct out of YYZ/YUL. They still need a refuelling stop somewhere.

Since CO has 10 -200's series, it might be those ones that the company will choose, if ever they want those.

From what I've read, the CO 200's are ER versions which will be perfect for Asian and South American runs, plus they should be an ideal size for trans-Atlantic, plus southern hops. The oldest of these dates from the year 2000, which is hardly old at all, although by 2010, that will mean they'll be 10 years old, which still isn't bad.

Again, from what I've read, they have the new style 777 interiors, and at least they all have commonality as they come from the same source. Perhaps the 767-200ER's alongside smaller aircraft from Westjet will provide Transat Vacations with the right fleet mix. If they need growth, getting 767-300's or 400's to compliment the 200's shouldn't be a problem around 2010 either, with many airlines upgrading to the A350 and 787's.

This is Transat's way to wind everybody up and get them to think that there will be expansion and job security..
Instead of listening to what they say (heard it all before, especially during negotiations) watch what they do. (subcontract and REDUCE number of aircraft types).
The idea that the company could plan ahead by 4 years is ridiculous. 6 months is usually an effort.
Also, the 310's have been promised to Fedex, so the new planes will be replacements as you said (if they come), not growth.
Management has said publicly that 12 planes is their optimum size.

This thread indicated an interest by Air Transat on Continental's 767-200ER's, and that possibly something would be said by December 2005. Has there been anything new in this regard?

No, nothing so far except that we're getting the 11th 310 next month and possibly another one this summer.

Thanks Gumbi! It will be interesting to see what Transat ends up doing, as it seems to be a well managed outfit.

Was informed that the 767-400 didn't have the range compared to the B767-300 and thats why there is only two operators that have them in their fleet. But the CO 767-200ER would have been one of the last passengers 200 series aircraft to come off the Boeing production line with CF6-80 fadecs engines and similar B777 interior and updated cockpit layout would be a nice addition to anyones fleet.
Air Mauritius used to have 2 x B767-200ER and they used them on the Mauritius direct Melbourne Australia flights on the longest ETOPs flights in world at that time, but now have been replaced by A340s

Here is the range chart for the 767's of all models. The -400 is slightly less than the -300 and much less than the -200ER.

Air Mauritius still have the 2 B767 200 ER
Just stop dreaming AT w ont buy or lease any B767 it is too expensive for them
In fact they will get 2 more A 310 soon

When the 787 comes out and airlines will renew their fleet, they will get rid of their older a/c's, won't they?

The renewal fleet isn't for tomorrow, if you read well LindbergB767, it's 2010, not now.

Plus, it's more expensive to fly with older a/c, the 310's are or will be 20 yrs old, so it costs a lot of $ to keep running those, while you have modern a/c's with less fuel consumption.

Of course one 310 is for this winter and another one for the summer, like Gumbi said.

I guess we will have to wait and see what's the future will be.
