I have heard from a number of sources that Boeing are proposing some reasonably big changes to the fundementals of the 787 design. These are centred around:

1) Bleedless engines - proposal to revert back to the traditional 'lets use the engine air' instead of an all electric air conditioning system.

2) Carbon fibre wing - as far I was aware the initial proposal was to have an entirely plastic wing. As the design has developed, it has become more and more metal!

3) Electric Brakes - Inital estimates were not as expected and proposals to revert to the hydraulics is being proposed.

Anyone know any more?:ok:

True, as with the new super-slender 747 design with jagged engines. Interesting to see how this is perceived by the airlines and how Beoing can sell something which can then change so radically:cool:

Wasn't the B787's design frozen as of 26 April 2005?
