Does anybody know if it's possible to do the ground school for the FI at one school and the flying at another. I'm thinking of going Florida to do the flying, but want to get most of the ground training done first. I'm converting from an FAA CFI so only need to do 30 odd hours ground.

Cheers

No, you are required to do a course of training under the supervision of a head of training.

Two halves of two courses do not add up to one course. If you complete half a course you will have to get the CAAs permission to credit you with that time towards another course. As the ground training and flight training are closely integrated on a FI Course its unlikely that you would be credited with more than 35 hours of ground training i.e. the Teaching and Learning phase.
