View Full Version : SAA to court over employment policies

Beak

Mention was made that a number of pilots in SA are taking SAA to court regarding their discriminatary employment policy. SAA are sitting with a shortage of +_ 150 pilots at this moment and are only allowed to employ currently advantaged crew.
This pool is empty.

That is in line with word around the camp fire.....

SAA is currently busy developing a program for accelerated command - idea is to have 50 new captains (i.e. representative of demographics) within the next three years. Appears that the SAA pilots union is also involved in the planning process.

To reach this target, certain "adjustments" need to be made to the current upgrade criteria (experience/length of service/etc.).

Bad luck for the poor guys who were expecting upgrades in the near future. Although they may comply with current requirements for upgrade - they will soon find themselves bypassed by junior pilots. :(

Now that would constitute in any other country as unfair labour practice, advancing someone junior to a position of seniority,

unless his daddy owned the company......

Will the last one out the door, kindly switch the lights out...because it will be very dark in the youngest "DEMOCRACY" run by communists!

What a laugh this bunch provides daily. The people who have voted for them is poorer none the better off, will the government stick by these "easy" problems although they even managed not to manage it!

New found power....give them a pinky.....he's solving the whole of Africa's problems.

Yellow card taken, seen your reply on Richard Bay issue.

4HP edited on my behalf, what else there do you not agree with or would you like ammendment to?

Your spelling is atrocious to the point that I have to ask myself the inevitable regarding the whole issue around all of this, "How good is excellerated progress." You can't even command the english language, although it's not my first, or second language too.

You see, in SA you can wipe certain issues under the carpet and the government can manipulate the court (previous PDI's too), press, crime figures and even senior figures within SAA for fear of losing a job, so close to retirement age.

But, in the cyber world, thanks to PPRune, every prospective SAA employer, because you will need some to fly around in Africa, has an idea how stinky the place is being managed, a reflection thus of exactly what's occurring even at government level.

What's happening in SA is enrichment of individuals, thus no racial issue. Change is a good thing yes, and even in SAA's case then, but do not jeopardise safety, obtaining of command etc. in favour of a image problem the government has!

You have by your postings proved by your (and government's) inability to grasp these, that this excellerated command is inefficient, dangerous, wrong and open to counter law suits (in the real world)!

But eish.....boy.....it is Afrika after all. Primates have been witnessed to develop tools, a part to determine intelligence.
Antrophology, another keen intrest of mine.....we'll call this one a BEE and give it wings (SAA) or a HOP or just a renaissance?

Consider yourself mooned, Beechjet!

In the 1940's, the government of the day declared that the South African Railways was a protected labour environment for the upliftment of the Afrikaner Nation. Right or wrong, I make no judgement other than to say that the present government had very good teachers.
I for one am very proud to say that I live in this magnificent country of ours, and I am astounded at the patience and reserve these so called "monkeys" have shown. I am quite sure that those out there showing such racist behaviour on this site would never dream of coming out in the open with their opinions.
May I point out that the "monkeys" will be on the selection board of most companies in the future, and I suggest that if you want to live and work in this fantastic country, you change your attitude, or leave for greener pastures.

SO ENDETH THE LESSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Methinks a major upliftment in the 40's was for your grandfather to leave the kraal, 3 chickens and goat to go work in the mine, leaving his quest to develop the wheel unattended.

His love and attraction for money I see most of you kept.

Saywhat, you and beechmonkey have studied and I see drank from the same fountain of African wisdom. Patience and reserve, by appointing foreigner's in most positions reserving the right to overlook more qualified less corrupt able persons, of this "local stock". Why is this patriotistic flag of your's not resembled then?

Well in this quest of the Afrikaner and by protecting it, we didn't make a bad job of it, hey? As in many other areas of that society, who figured out that Bantu in Afrika were actually best at creating social systems, health care, transport, universities, engineering etc. and have in this wisdom closed it all, refused double storey dwellings when aspired to within kraal communities.

Patience and reserve of the masses figuring out that this government is only enriching a few, and then foreigners to boot too! It's leaving you to mismanage it up to a point, where from the greener pastures the now more cleverer, richer, more enlightened Afrikaners now with a world community backing them, because examples are plenty, will come back and show their regret for having patience and reservance.

Methinks you both have very quickly forgotten your roots. Show me one fine example of greatness coming purely from Afrika, even in African terms. What a pitty we blamed the Zulu's, they at least kept your numbers and attitudes in check.

Looking at how quickly you the Bantu have advanced in SA and in the whole of Afrika, I say steam ahead my BOYS! Racist bahaviour to come out in the open, oh no, look what it got Bob into, now selling his country to the Chinese! The ANC sold SA long time ago too, Afrikaners died trying to keep it save from Cubans and East Germans all communists too back then, to show you how un-racist they are, comrade!

You think the Xhosa, Tswana, Basotho, Pedi, Zulu, all the previous inhabitants will benefit from it? None have any signs of a culture left, except as a tourist attraction! Rainbow nation?

BEE is a dubble-bladed sword. Chop-chop, the sound of a history lesson that always repeats itself.:8

Point of Clarity, I did'nt steal, what I did do with a substandard apartheid education is accumalate sufficient post grad qual and build myself upto an extent where I am well and cleanly self supportive...don't have to be a ''blame it on .....' and sulk and moan about not getting a chance, or opportunity in SAA, etc.

Met a couple of SAA finest in Hong Kong the other day, they flying for CX. Could'nt help noticing, yes they made a choice in their lives and decided to fly for CX. They seemed happy, but the best part they were extremally complimentary with regards to South Africa.

We have a lot of challenges in this country and thats what they are, challenges......one of them being the SACAA, but I'm sure that lot will be cleared up soon.

Unfortunately, there are certain mindsets that cannot be changed. There is no point in argueing the facts, as the facts differ in reality for each side. However, the truth of the matter remains, and shall continue to remain that there is a new South African government ruling this country. We will never return to the past, so the sooner we come to grips with that the easier we will be able to move forward.
There only option available to those who do not want to embrace the change is to find greener pastures. There is no disgrace in this. Problem is that I doubt that there is a country in the world worth living in that will accept these beliefs.

To finance the deficit South Africa borrowed $1070 million, on top of previous loans of $464 million during 1976-7 and $547 million in 1978, from the International Monetary Fund in 1982. This underlined the dependence on international support of the regime’s strategy for defending the Apartheid system

Over the nine years between 1972-1980, South Africa borrowed a total of nearly 7 billion US dollars from banks based in Britain, the United States, West Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium and elsewhere – a total of 186 separate loans.

If you weren’t in liquid form back in 1977, then you’ll recall a Vorster having a Dr Connie Mulder in his cabinet. Well what followed was subsequently dubbed the ‘’Muldergate Scandal’

However the reality of it all is what really happened to all those billions of dollars between 1972 and 1980. South Africa was as previously put across by a number of your colleagues a rich, thriving economy, something that we can’t achieve except by stealing of course. So why borrow when you so abundantly rich. Convenient isn’t it. Anyway Vorster was labeled and will always be labeled by his own people as a draft dodger and a Nazi sympathizer.

With regards to all those billions, I really looked from Soweto, Cape Flats, Bo Kaap, District Six, Chatsworth, Phoenix, Umlazi, Kwa Mashu and you know what?, I just couldn’t find it. Wonder if the Groet Krokodil knows where it is. That’s if he can get his finger (the one that he used to…..) out of ……

Anyway, I sincerely suggest (although it’s a bit late now) that the NP should have rewarded Dimitrios Tsafendas for the wonderful contribution he made to society at large. Perhaps we should honour him with a statue of some sort. Wait lets rename a street after him……I’m sure that you’ll concur that this is the least that we could do, being so patriotic and all.

Given your inept ability to recognize progress made, I’m absolutely certain that perhaps you and your supportive colleagues stem from your aliencestors being the ‘’Hensoppers’ With such genealogy, really such a pity.

So, if you can find greener pastures, then go hook up with your mate Jan Lamprecht and fly off with your BPL onto the other side where they may take you seriously.

Alternatively Join the Freedom 2000 & Mariots.

Beecmonkies and Black brothers lend me your ears!

Now you see, herein monkies testamonial lies the cancer of this whole problem. He believes/assumes I'm protecting something brought about by a quick change of hand all WITHIN an orginisation.

It makes it easy to disspell actions if you were responsible therefor.

During the PW Botha era the Illuminated managed to establish a regional body in the shape of the SADC Conference which could later lead to the establishment of a super economic government for the southern hemisphere of Africa (PAP & Sheba you see...)

Yet the Illuminated ones managed, after 1980, to establish the era of liberalism in South Africa, modelled on radical political changes. Secret discussions were conducted with the ANC, and the SWA and Angolan questions were allayed to pave the way for political surrender to an ANC Black majority regime.

Although PW (Groot Krokodil) Botha was drawn into Pik Botha's sly political model of pluralism and technocracy, PW in the course of time realised that foreign powers wanted his country. When he realised exactly what was going on, he started dragging his feet in the political reform.

For that he almost lost his life, and finger this too if they shot him on the nose!:ooh: Pik asked for his resignation and FW also member of the Broeder's and skilled in craft like you....I suppose but he was awarded with the highest award of the Jewish B'nai B'rit section Anti-Defamation Leage:8

As a prelude to the economic coercion against SA, AAC/ DBeers in 1984 took about R10Milliard out of SA, with the aid of Gerhard de Kock, Pres. of the Reserve Bank, & Owen Horwood, Finance.

They invested the money in Minorco, with it's base in the Bermudas. When the int. community started an intensive economic campaign against the SA, the degree of SA independance/vulnerability abroad was very high.

In July 1985 Dave Rockefeller's Manhattan Bank created a financial crisis in SA's short term debt abroad. Other banks followed suit in the financial onslaught against SA. Meanwhile the American multi-national companies started a campaign of disinvestment in SA. Some 40 companies in SA were involved in 1985, and 50 in '86. The matter of complete economic sanctions was hotly debated all over America. The opposition said blacks would suffer - eat away apartheid.

Those in support of sanctions argued that segregation and apartheid developed in a decade of economic growth, that many Black SA's were in favour of sanctions and that Botha was unyielding in his refusal to give blacks an effective say in SA politics.

Conditions were given and:

To negotiate annual investment in SA, the PW government was forced to find about 54% of all investing funds abroad, since 1978, to bypass the effects of sanctions!

ANC in charge now? Yes, what funds? :ooh:

History Lesson 103

Within the Southern African region, anticipation of change filtered earlier on and was manifested in the transformation of the previously anti-apartheid Southern African Development Co-ordination Conference, which excluded South Africa, to the newly restructured Southern African Development Community, which is more development oriented. SADCC was, in essence, a politically motivated response and 'defensive mechanism by the Front line States (FLS) to the PW Botha government in South Africa's idea of a 'constellation of states' in the region.

The Declaration and Treaty establishing the Community, which replaced the Co-ordination Conference, was signed at the Summit of Heads of State or Government on 17 August 1992, in Windhoek, Namibia. South Africa joined SADC in 1994 .While it was formerly a resistance movement, it has now become a co-operation structure, which is actively seeking peace, stability and prosperity and there are already positive results in this regard.

In case you're not aware at one point PW & the Nats offered a truce between SA and its neighboring states: leave white rule in SA alone, join forces and make the SADC region an economic powerhouse. He was told to take a walk.

To grant PW credit for either SADCC or SADC, well Tsafendas was correct, tapeworms do reside in human beings heads. Better feed it well.

Here's what you call progress in Economic terms, all done by ‘’what you call us….monkeys’, SADCC. SADC, OAU, NEPAD, NEDLAC, and lets not forget our wonderful Administrative laws that benefits all South Africans the free privilege of the CCMA. If people are not happy with employers, employment conditions, etc then go ahead this government implemented systems that are free and fair.

Anyway back to class, History 103

The birth of the new South Africa could in a sense be said to have also been a child of its own times, hailed as perhaps the greatest human rights campaign ever. Thus the end of apartheid and essentially of colonialism in South Africa, owes a great deal to the efforts of the Organisation for African Unity whose main objectives were, to rid the continent of the remaining vestiges of colonisation and apartheid; to promote unity and solidarity among African States; to co-ordinate and intensify co-operation for development; to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Member States and to promote international co-operation within the frame work of the United Nations. Indeed, as a continental organisation the OAU provided an effective forum that enabled all Member States to adopt co-ordinated positions on matters of common concern to the continent in international fora and defend the interests of Africa effectively.

Through the OAU Co-ordinating Committee for the Liberation of Africa, the Continent worked and spoke as one with undivided determination in forging an international consensus in support of the liberation struggle and the fight against apartheid.
The OAU initiatives paved the way for the birth of African Union, which was successfully launched at the Inaugural Summit held in Durban, South Africa in 2002. Clear as it should be by now, it must be emphasised that the AU is not the continuation of the OAU under a different name, but this new organ has the capacity built into it, to drive the development of the African people through New Partnership for Africa's Development.

NEPAD deliberately highlights peace and security, democracy, good political, economic and corporate governance, and regional integration as the necessary conditions for development (and of course, investment, both domestic and internationally). These necessary conditions coupled with other NEPAD priorities such as infrastructure development; ensuring banking and financial standards; agriculture and market access; are about reducing the risk profile of doing business on the continent, creating the conditions conducive for investment, reducing business costs and increasing Africa's competitiveness in the world economy.

Since you may not be on par with the history or reality of this country lets educate you on the Greek, Tsafendas……..My friend Mark Lottering would call him his bra, being truly coloured and all.

Tsafendas was the parliamentary messenger who assassinated Prime Minister HF Verwoed, by stabbing him four times with a dagger, during a parliamentary session in 1966. Born in (present day Maputo), Tsafendas was the illegitimate son of a Greek father and a Mozambican mother, a domestic worker named Amelia William. As a young boy he was shunned by the White community and was nicknamed “blackie”, due to his wavy hair and dark skin. He had lived in Germany, Canada, the United States, Greece, France, Turkey, Portugal, Iran, Ghana and Angola.

He was 48-years-of age at the time of his heroic act, had an IQ of 125 and could speak eight languages, the man who irrevocably changed the course of South Africa's history, Dimitrio Tsafendas died in 1999 aged 81, from pneumonia. He was buried quietly in Krugersdorp.

One card on a wreath of white lilies on his grave read: "Displaced person, sailor, Christian, communist, liberation fighter, political prisoner, hero. Remembered by your friends."

Did you know that during the great demonstrations in 1976, it was chanted: "TSAFENDAS INYANGA YEZIZWE" (Tsafendas healer of the nation)

Anyway, it’s not Adderly Rupert its Anton Rupert.

An article in an Afrikaans publication, Beeld, contains a reference to a book written in 1967 about Verwoerd & Tsafendas. The title isn't given but the author is J.J.J. Scholtz. Possibly this is the book. One news account said:

"Dimitrios Tsafendas came to England in 1959 and was offered a job by a British man who owned the Rothmans cigarette factory. In 1960 he mentioned the fact that he wished he had the opportunity to kill S.A. Prime minister. The owner, Anton Rupert, picked up on this, and this is how it got the ball rolling. The murder plot members met at a meeting in Birmingham in March, 1963. There they decided on the assassin’s assignment. He was paid 5000 Rand. He would remain in England, until ‘Time Magazine American,’ would print a picture on its front page of Dr. Verwoerd in the form of a lamb dripping with blood, and that would indicate the time had come to start proceedings.”

5000 Rand, …….really…….just shows how little people really know of the struggle.

Right what must I do today, Hmmmm, No cash in transit vans operating on a Sunday. OK, since it’s our land, my property, vrou bring over a goat so we can slaughter it in the yard and do what we have done for hundreds of years, place it over an open fire. Only to be informed in the past century that we are natives who are still barbaric. So what, in order to justify the similar method of flaming the meat, you call it BRAAI.

Well then, laat ons ‘n plan met die vleis maak.

Manne, languages are really an art, Hats of to Dimitrios Tsafendas.

Anyway……lets be serioooooous

What we have is unity, power, intelligence and the heart to forgive and transform this wonderful country, into an effective economic hub for all and I reiterate for all South African to enjoy. Definitely a far better hand being dealt to you than that dealt to our forefathers and kind.

What now, do you require lessons in simple arithmetic?

Back in November 1976 already, Harry and Rupert founded the Urban Foundation.

This after stock prices fell a bit. Their dream was to create a black middle class. (Harry as First Chairman and Jan Steyn, former Supreme Court Judge as Executive Director.)

It's resources was "to help achieve the growth, prosperity, peace and stability that all South Africans seek."

Translation: the black majority was at the gates, and the white minority must change direction, flee the country or perish.:ooh:

So... you see what you think is essentially a Bantu mentality was brought about by a nasty white mind....behind a crooked nose. Come to think about how all this affects a law action by SAA pilots against the government?
