Just caught the end of a news item in Spanish, (TexMex) in which a light aircraft had, by some extraordinary means, been left hanging vertically nose down in trees/ wires. The reg was N22???

There was general EMS / Fire service activity, but couldn't keep up with the million words a second of the newscaster. Any other info?

Elderly couple escapes death in plane crash

November 13, 2005, 18:45

A 60-year-old woman pilot, and her 57-year-old male passenger, were admitted to a Durbanville hospital with minor injuries this morning after their light aircraft crashed. The accident occurred when their decades-old aircraft struck powerlines while they were doing a demonstration flight for the local radio-controlled model aircraft club which was holding an open day.

The accident occurred about 1km from where the model aircraft was being flown. Paramedics and rescue workers were on the scene within minutes. The aircraft was badly damaged but is apparently not beyond repair.

Werner Mayer, who was participating in the event, said that what saved the two from death was that the plane, after hitting the powerline, did a complete somersault and landed on its wheels. This also facilitated the removal of the occupants from the aircraft's open cockpit.

A department of civil aviation team flew from Gauteng to Cape Town this afternoon to investigate the crash.

Don't know what some of you more senior PPruners think, but "elderly couple" seems a bit harsh for a 60 and 57 year old!

Anyone over 30 is elderly to me. I may move the goal posts in a year or so though.
