A Ryanair flight from Tampere (Finland) to STN made an emergency landing at Malmö/Sturup. Engine failure enroute. 111 pax onboard, according to local news. Good job by the pilots!

must be -800. there are no 200s based in STN anymore... and I don't know about a W-Pattern DUB-STN-TMP-STN-DUB

it was an -800. A local Tv channel was there and shooted these pictures:

It is the Onsdag, 19:10hrs broadcast and from minute 4:05 to 4:34min.

Didn't understand a bleedin' word of the news but it was a nice shot of some landing lights at night - if you're into that sort of thing.

CFM will be p****d – spoiling their IFSD rate.
Especially when their trying to prove theirs are best engines fitted to NG 737’s :E

Yeah, especially since CFM are the only suppliers of engines on the NG (and Classic as well).:cool:

Does anyone out there remember when CFM56s used to pack up in heavy precipitation? Air Europe had a double hush going into Thessaloniki one night with a 737-300 but managed to get at least one of them going again before they hit anything serious.
The company I was flying for at the time had the odd DC-8-73. One night one of my mates had three out of the four fail on him on the way into Miami in similar circumstances.
Can anyone out there tell me what was the "fix". The CFM56 has now become one of the most successful engines ever built so it would be interesting to know how it went from being a disaster to becoming a legend.
