Good day to all. Could I use your expertise to find where I may obtain an Aerodrome Flight Information Service (licence?)(approval?)
Thanks in advance.

Try ringing NATS, buy the training manual, take the written exams, then try and validate at your nearest FIS unit. Or apply to NATS to be an ATCO. Better pay.

I'm afraid qcode is livin in the past.

The only practical way to get a FISO licence is through the CAA - more info here (http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?categoryid=43&pagetype=90&pageid=4748). Drop me a PM if you've got any specific questions - I might be able to provde answers.

Many thanks to qcode and Spitoon. I have downloaded the CAP, and will continue my quest.

When I looked into it a year ago or so, you didnt have to do all the exams if your already a pilot, PPL or ATPL holder. I think you are only required to pass one exam and validate with srg.

All changed, YSW, about a week ago. A pilots licence no longer gives you exemption from the exams.

Is this correct? I thought it was only that a FRTOL holder could no longer obtain an A/G Certificate of Competence on the basis of their existing licence.

I've downloaded CAP 427, dated Jauary 2005.
It still shows test exemptions for pilot licence holders (Chapter 2, para 3.4 and 3.5)
I shall contact the SRG and see if this has been recently amended.
Thanks agin for all your info.

Sorry folks, what has changed is you can no longer obtain an A/G Certificate on the basis of a pilot's FRTOL. What I was saying above is complete rubbish.

I blame overwork . . . . :ouch:

Exam was ok.... Only 4 of us sitting in the BIG empty exam room. Just sat the one exam "air law & procedures".

Pretty straight forward questions, but not very "fiso" related wich was a bit suprising but there you go....

I'll keep you posted on how I get on....
