Some Advice on Outsourcing

We need to brainstorm this one, get our heads in a circle, hit the ground running, keep our eyes on the ball and make sure that we are all singing from the same hymn sheet. At the end of the day it’s not a level playing field and the goal posts will move; when they do, someone may have to pick the ball up and run with it. We must have a golf bag of options hot-to-trot from the word 'go'. Its our train set but we cannot afford to leave it on the back burner as we have a lot of irons in the fire. We will need to unstick a few potential poo traps along the way but it all depends on the flash-to-bang time and the fudge factor allowed. Things may end up slipping to the left and, if they do, we will need to run a tight ship in case they slip to the right later. I don't want to re-invent the wheel but we must get right down in the weeds on this one, if push comes to shove, we may have to up stumps and then we'll be in a whole new ball game. I suggest we test the water with a few warmers in the bank. If we can produce the goods then we are cooking with gas, if not, then we could be in a world of hurt. We don't want to die in a ditch over this but we could easily end up in a flat spin if people start getting twitchy. To that end, I want to get around the bazaars and make sure the movers and shakers are ‘on side’ from day one. If you can hit me with your shopping list I can take it to the head honchos and start the ball rolling. If it goes pear-shaped, it’s no good throwing our toys out of the pram or our teddy in the corner…behaving like stress puppies is not the go; instead, we may have to fine-tune the strategy in order to do a re-gain. We'll be hung out to dry if it becomes a showstopper but don’t panic, there is light at the end of the tunnel. If it all gets blown out of the water, we will be throwing a track. Get your feet into my in-tray and throw me chapter and verse as to how you see things panning out. As long as our ducks are in a row, I think the ball will stay in play and we can come up smelling of roses. Before you bomb burst and throw smoke, it’s imperative that we play with a straight bat this time around. Our colours must be very firmly nailed to the mast and we must keep our eye on the big picture, we must also march to the beat of the drum even if we are on a sticky wicket.

Let me be clear, there is no point in tree topping this one, we should only be picking the low level fruit. We must touch base with the sharp pencils and establish a golden thread of connectivity if we are to avoid a skills transfer of our added value status. The outsourcing issue must be run up the flagpole to get the 10,000 foot view and avoid our ownership slipping under the radar. We musn’t let the chainsaw consultants onto our pitch. The grass roots need to be kept empowered through targeted performance management and kept fertilised with smart objectives if we are to avoid an outplacement trapdoor. This is a hearts and minds issue so we don’t want a knife fight in a telephone box or we could end up with blood on our hands. If we ring fence the issue, we should be able to keep our mission and vision in the same synergy bag.

I have been on permanent transmit for long enough, I don't want to rock the boat or teach anyone to suck eggs but we must keep this very firmly in our sight picture or it could fall between the cracks. We shouldn’t be seen to be re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic but if the cap fits, wear it. There are a number of wolves close to the sledge and alligators close to the canoe which need to be shot. The heads of shed often play fast and loose, so it's stand by to repel boarders. As you are aware, it's a bit like punching a cloud round here but if anyone wants to flag-up any bullet points I'll be on my console. The frequency is always open and I'm as flexible as a palm tree in a hurricane. The ball is in your court; don't let the wheels come off.

They all speak the same language but no meaning or truth behind the words...see start of thread.
