A friend of mine is going to San Diego to do some hour building with Anglo American Aviation. He has asked whether i would like to go but does anyone know how long it takes to get a FAA PPL from having a JAA licence? And does anyone know of any JAA registed aircraft (G reg) in the San Diego area?

Complete idiots guide HERE (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=118084) - give yourself at least 3 weeks for processing (and the CAA now charge £16).

I doubt there are any "G' reg aircraft for hire in the entire U.S - why would anyone be so daft ;)

These "idiot guides" seem to concentrate on doing piggyback PPLs, which is probably the least wise thing to do nowadays. Everybody wanting an FAA PPL should do a standalone one.

Interesting comment - what makes you say that P?

I'd agree if you were going to fly 'N' everywhere but for the average brit who flies 'G' in the UK and holidays in the states then I see nothing on he horizon that affects the "issued on the basis of..............." status.
