Electronic Logbooks

[PA-28 CLOUD SURFER]

i am looking for a good electronic logbook which is compatible with Pcs and can sync up to Palm PDAs. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. It would also help if the CAA accept print outs from the program so the need for the good ol written logbook is no longer neccessary.

The link that you gave me was for windows based PDAs and i have a Palm PDA which is a different platform. I can't find any software for the Palms. Do you know of any which is CAA compliant?

Do a Google search for 'Captains Keeper', it will take you to their site.

It's specifially for PalmOne applications, and it's very good. There is a Free Trial Version available.

Unfortunately, it's not CAA-compatible, but the best things never are ;)

I have been using *********, but has just been one problem after another. I don't think it works with the latest version of Windons Mobile. Thank god I only have the trail version!!!

BRL, this is daft! Either you should let people talk about products on the thread or you should pull the thread entirely. We all know how to use Google, and all a link does is save repeated identical effort by lots of people.

This aversion to advertising is mentioned nowhere in the FAQ, by the way. Is it your invention or Danny's? Where is it set out?

You are corect in saying there is no mention of it in th FAQ but sitewide, it is a general rule that links to commercial sites/products are not allowed. You can mention the product as long as you like but please no links!

You would be surprised how many people actually use the 'report this post' function just to point one out when one comes up, I think there were two around the time this thread started.

Also bear in mind the site is run voluntary and it costs Danny and Rob a lot money to keep running. Money out of their own pockets and a little from advertisers.

If all advertisers had to do was post something about one of their products, then the site would have hardly any much needed revenue would it so mods try and keep links down to a minimium.

Let us look at this thread(just for arguments sake), if logbookpro wanted to, they could advertise and pay into the site, they don't of course but what is stopping them registering as someone and linking to their product that way? What do we say then when a rival electronic logbook company who have an ad with us complain? Do you see where I am coming from!!

At the moment that is how I look at it. I am sure if I am wrong then Danny or Rob will comment and put me right. :)

That's a ridiculous personal policy you've adopted BRL. PA28 is asking for relevant advice from the community that may also help others on the site - and in good fashion pruners are helping.

Jet-A1 clearly has no connection with whatever product he linked to, but your edit doesn't even allow one to work out what he was talking about.

You say people can mention a commercial product but not link to it, but as Bookworm points out Google's just one click away for all of us and a direct link is much more convenient for all users.

Should one censor all reference to British Airways on the site since their product is not free? Should one remove all posts referencing Oxford Air Training 'cos Bristol GS pay for advertising space? Should PA28 change his username in case Cessna wants to be an advertiser? Remove links to new Lycoming SB's 'cos Continental may be offended?

Get a grip - it's the combination of this type of vapid moderation and the bonkers change of forum description that has led to the demise of the Private Flying forum and the rise of the Flyer forum...

At the end of the day, links to commercial sites/products are not allowed. This applies all across the site.
