Whats the current attitude of the Russian government regarding foriegn GA aircraft visiting Russia. I have been thinking about a trip in a Light twin from the UK to st Petersburg, then Moscow and back to the UK.

Is this possible these days??

Hi,

I looked into this earlier this year and whilst it is possible, there are several factors which you need to consider. Primarily the requirement that you fly in Russian airspace with an official translator. Also handling charges are very high and you are only likely to receive IFR clearances (which may not be an issue for you).

There is a thread with more detail on this and some other info that I started but I'm afraid I don't know how to add a link. If you do a search in Private Flying for 'Petersburg' it will come up.
