With all the opportunities in India opening up in the near future it would be interesting to know how expat pilots are taxed. Any comments from those already working there? Thanks OWT

There are plenty of loopholes, talk to the airlines accounts dept. they are always looking out for the best option. Indians are great at tax "MANAGMENT";)

Left Wing is spot on but your FYI the basic rate for those kinds of wages is about 30%. As Left Wing said though...

So you guys trying to tell me that even though the company offers me a contract that is supposed to be tax free i should be careful?

No, if there telling you it's tax free it means their probably getting around it. Maybe their paying you in foreign currency in a foreign account, or their telling you the net sum you'll be paid.

better make sure you have a contract that says your tax is paid though, just in case your home tax office gives you a call.

the conteract shud say "tax payed" and taht way you now sum tax is payed sumwere.
