They sure were.
In order to nip any rumours in the bud:
For those that don't know, there was an incident at North Weald this evening. A Cessna 310 had a problem with its undercarriage and the pilot elected to land on the grass. The emergency services and North Weald Volunteer Fire Rescue were called to attend. The aircraft came to a stop, undercarriage up, in a very short distance. There was no fire and no fuel leak. The occupant walked away, presumably to the bar!
