I happen to be at Sault College for the aviation program, and have been told that working the ramp for my summer during the program could really improve my chances of getting a job with that company later. I would like to know if anyone happens to know of any charter companies (anywhere in Canada would work, but I would prefer Northern Ontario) that hire students to work the ramp for the summer.

I would like to find a company that would consider previous ramp employment when hiring for an entry level job, especially if there is the possiblity of moving up to a turbine while remaining in the same company.

Can anyone recommend companies where I should start my search?

Try Wasaya in Thunder Bay, they hire pilots to work the ramp in Pickle Lake.

If you work the ramp for wasaya you'll surely be first in line to get a ramp job the next season. You most definately will not jump right into flying a turbine the next summer. Some other companies to consider would be transwest even though they're in saskatchewan and Nakina. Best of luck, it's rare to see someone with such foresight.
