Passenger jet's emergency landing
A passenger plane has been forced to make an emergency landing at Leeds Bradford Airport.

All 55 passengers on the Birmingham to Edinburgh flight were led to safety after the aircraft landed and were being tended to by paramedics.

Passenger Brian Goldthorpe described how the pilot landed the Flybe plane within about four minutes after it had filled with dense smoke.

The airport said an inquiry was under way and normal services had resumed.

Well done Boys and Girls, I am proud of all of you. Now sit back and wait to be screwed by the management!!

No time to be screwed by the management. They're probably still up there finishing their 6 sector day.

Well done to the crew

Is it me or does that BBC picture look like a Q400 rather than a "jet"?

So, was it a Dash or a 146?

It was a Dash 8 Q400. Well done to the crew on their swift diversion aparently the smoke was quite bad.

Well done chaps .... makes a change from the 146 then !
Is this all part of fleet commonisation ?

Well done to all involved! :ok:

Was driving one of the aircraft on stand at the time - appeared well planned & executed on everybodys behalf.

And a big thanks to LBA FRS for getting the runway back into ops so quickly ;) She's still parked at LBA - the initial reports were aircon smoke.

Brgds to all,
Empty

It actually fills you full of confidence seeing the proffessionalism and training of our colleagues, handling a incident like they did yesterday!

Above reports are all spot on Dash 8 'Jersey282' no one injured, parameds there to treat 'the shaken up'. Engineer called to incident site to check over the Air Con which was smoking. We only had a 30 min delay, which I find amazing.

Well done to all involved...
:ok:

Aren't there filters available to prevent this sort of Emergencey happening?
Mind you, if they haven't bothered their provervbials to fit them on the 146 fleet then I can't see it happening on the Dash.
Unless the crew and passengers are not so lucky next time.

Is the aircon a weak point of the dash 8's? I only ask because a few months back I watched another Flybe crew succesfully evacuate on the taxiway at GLA with all the services in attendance and if memory serves me right the aircon was the culprit then.

Could this be related or is my memory serving me badly and I'm talking drivel?

The last incident was due to a cracked combustion chamber. Both engines were boroscoped and promptly removed from the airframe!

SAS had a similar problem with one of there Dash 400's.

It sounds like this incident was a similar problem...if so, could there be a build issue with the PW150A??

All Nippon Airways had a similar incident a few weeks ago on one of their Dash 8 Q400's.
CEO resigned over it, as it was not the first time this has happened.

I flew the first couple of sectors after it was returned to BHX, it was as good as new (but the ECL was open at an appropriate page!!).

Good job by the crew.
