View Full Version : TSA registration for BFR?

Does anyone know whether it is necessary to register with the TSA in order to do a BFR and renew a FAA PPL?

Also, just how easy is it to hire a plane in the US now? Does one have to jump through unimaginable hoops?

Would I be better off renewing my FAA license then converting it to a Canadian one and flying there instead?

No.

No.

No idea.

As Flyin'Dutch' has intimated, there are no major problems with flying in the US: you only need TSA paperwork for instruction leading to the issue of a licence or rating, not a BFR. Otherwise things are pretty relaxed as usual...

Thanks for the answer. Reading about the draconian measures that have been taken in some areas and dealing with many US citizens here in Japan (who seem to feel that mass hysteria is partially justified!), I was concerned that this ha seriously affected private flying too.

Thanks for the reassurance! :D
