Chaps,

What would be a suitable GPS for a Piper Vagabond that can't supply the power, has a stick (not a yoke) and is a group aircraft so any holder/clamp must be able to be easily installed and removed for each flight.

Therefore I reckon it needs to be small(ish) and with a good battery (rechargeable) life. I have in mind either the Garmin 196 or even the iQue 3600a.

Does anybody have any experiance with either, or anything else?

What about a Garmin 296 - compared it with a Garmin 430 recently and for a few thousand cheaper it performed equally as well!

Garmin Pilot III. Will do everythin you want, can run on batteries or a small external nicad pack, you can get a good clip mount for it - excellent small capable unit.

Whatever it is, get some long-life rechargeables e.g. 2600MAh and a fast charger. Expect to pay about £25 for 4 batteries and a one-hour charger.

I have a 196 which I will be soon selling ;) We've just had a 295 fitted in the Beast.
