Is this cause for concern or should we be reassured that this seems to be happening less.

"It said the cause was the non-sighting of the Hawks by the Dash 8 pilots"

Surely these type of Aircraft by their very nature are supposed to be hard to detect.

Neither, it's just one of those things that will happen from time to time.

Happens to civilian/civilian too thank goodness for TCAS (provided everyone follows the RA instructions)

I was not aware that fast jet military aircraft had TCAS, well, not one that would talk to civil units.
Can anybody comment?

I had a near miss the other day.

On the motorway i must have come within metres of the other car....;)

An incident report showed the Tornado bomber and a Sea King rescue helicopter from Lossiemouth were just 980ft apart at one stage on 8 December.

Is that vertically?

If so, is it an airprox?

It's not the mid-air fender-bender which does the real damage, it's the expanse of non-solid matter between the parties and the ground - or, more accurately, the sudden emergence of solid matter at the downwards end.

If we kept air traffic down at a reasonable height, like rooftop level, there'd be fewer mid-air collision casualties.
