I need to know what aircraft canopies are made of (in the military sector anyway) for my BEng Final Yr project

Some sort of clear stuff, possibly bullet proof?

Usuaplly they are made of a very thick, damage resistant perspex. They have a miniture detination cord wrapped along the top to blast away the canopy if the need to eject arises. Having seen videos of this I can tell you that is works and is very impressive. Good luck with your exams.

Obviously not made of bird-proof material, FL45, 480KTs, BANG.
