Didn't make it to Fairford (too much sun for the little one) but at home here in sleepy West Oxfordshire we were treated this afternoon to the beautiful sight and sound of three Spitfires, all sporting invasion stripes, flying Finger Four with a missing man - a tribute to the fallen of WWII, I presume (RIAT attendees will no doubt either confirm or scotch this rumour within minutes!).
Shortly afterwards they came over again, led this time by the Reds. Have to say it brought a lump to the throat - there are, thankfully, still some things that the Brits do best.
Thanks for the free display, guys. Thanks also to all those who (assuming that I'm right, of course) were commemorated by that missing man at No 3.
We will remember them.
Gadget :ok:
